Abbotsford Karate Club, Seikukan, will be restarting training in Abbotsford at a new facility called the Bandits Athletic Center in the West Oaks Mall.

Currently the PHO mandates allows for Phase 2 protocals.

Training will be restricted to youth (under 19 years of age) and some coaches/ instructors will be there to assist instruction.

Participants will be asked the following questions upon arrival:

Do you have any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue or loss of appetite.

Are you, or anyone you are living with, either sick, self-isolating, or quarantined?

Any patron who answers ‘yes’ to the questions above, will not be permitted to enter the facility.

Participants or their guardians (if participant is a minor) will sign a waiver of liability before they are allowed to train.

Participants will:

arrive wearing their training uniform

wear masks when entering and leaving the facility.

use the provided hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the training area

maintain physical distancing of at least 3 meters amongst everyone in the training space (including students, coaches and instructors) Cones and tape will be used to aid in proper distancing

not engage in any physical contact (including elbow bumps etc)

No spectators are allowed.

Club training will focus on low risk to transmission/ low intensity activities which will include:

Low intensity warm up

Basics in place

Moving techniques

kata practice / instruction

Participants will be asked to minimize the use of kiais.

There will be no use of shared equipment.

Staff will self-monitor for symptoms. Staff who have symptoms of the illness will not work and need to self-isolate and contact their care provider.

Whenever possible, contactless forms of payment and check-in will be used.

All particpants will be required to be members of Karate BC (ASAP) so that the Sport BC liability insurance will cover them.
